Nova to Mraf

The thing I loved about DC and Marvel crossover stories was the idea
of different worlds colliding with each other. Usually there was some
sort of initial squabble followed by a treaty to put the hurt on a
mutual foe. The thing I used to hate about a crossover story within a
single universe (such as Marvel's) was that they made me buy some
stupid comic that I would never have purchased to begin with in order
to read the whole story. For instance, I would be happily reading
Spiderman, but then all of a sudden, due to a crossover, I would have
to buy a Nova comic in order to understand what was happening. Nova.
Who likes Nova? Abilities: energy projection and absorption. I mean,
who can't rub their socks on the carpet and shock someone in the ear?
So stupid. It was an obvious ploy to boost a comic's sales like "Nova"
to get Spiderman readers to have to buy a Nova comic in order to enjoy
the good comics. We all knew it, but we all went along with it anyway.
What else could we do? Switch to Viz? Well... yes, but I digress.

I recently became one of 4 winners of some lovely Field Notes Sketchbooks
from Doodlers Anonymous, and I thought I would share the
love with my good pal, Ryan, of the Mraf universe. We will both be
drawing in the same sketchbook and on top of each other's drawings
just like old times. I think it is important to collaborate with
someone you naturally work well with, and Ryan and I seem to have the
ability to function on complimentary brainwaves every once in awhile,
so we thought we would give it another go. The catch is this: you'll
have to read the Mraf posterous blog AND the Nova posterous blog in
order to make sense of it all (this is where all the Mraf fans heave a
big tumultuous groan). Do not worry: the Mraf world and the Nova
world will continue to operate separately with their own stories, but
every once in awhile, you might see an update from one of us on this
particular project. Just so you know...
